Vladimir Kosma Zworykin (1888/1889[a] – July 29, 1982) was a Russian-American inventor and engineer who pioneered television technology. He developed a television transmitting and receiving system using cathode ray tubes. Zworykin significantly contributed to the practical development of television from the early 1930s, including innovations such as charge storage-type tubes, infrared image tubes, and the electron microscope.
